Filmport.

After the success of our rebranding of Toronto Film Studios, Compass360 was asked to create the identity for a new film facility in Toronto’s Port Lands. Working with the facility’s senior team we developed the Filmport name, and from there the complete visual identity.

To evoke the legacy of film and open the door for self-referential humour, the brand and the initial launch campaign contained deliberate retro elements.

While the Filmport campus was envisioned as the home of auxiliary facilities for production and supporting industries, the main offering would be large-scale studio spaces, which became the sub-brand Filmport Studios. We were responsible for creating the main selling tool, an immersive full-frame website that provided a virtual fly-through of the facility as well as specs and floorplans for pre-production and planning purposes.

In keeping with the brand and the business offering, our marketing strategy included the production of two short-form films. We introduced the first one as a teaser at the Banff International Film Festival. Postlaunch we released both films on YouTube and as a promotional DVD.
